Founder Tammy King often joked about being a living local directory during her 6 years as a local Real Estate Agent, in Crows Nest Queensland.  One year after leaving the industry in 2019, she was still receiving phone calls from locals asking, “who re-stumped that house? which Building and Pest inspector do you recommend?”  and reading the constant questions for recommendations on the local social media community page, it makes you question, why?  Let’s face it if we need a trade in a hurry, we don’t want to wait for a response on social media, or to be wading through nonlocal businesses!  You want to be able to find your local business easily.  That’s when Tammy researched directories and designed a new look, easy to use Local Area Trade & Services Directory, but… only six months from launching Prepare My Property, there were requests from local retailers and community groups asking for affordable advertising, they liked what the Tradies were being offered.  So we looked at an area we knew nothing about, lets face it lots of us have visited a town and thought what’s here? Where can I find information about the local business, retail shops, community groups, sports?  So where do you go if there is no information centre, or a knowledgeable Real Estate Agent!? Have you tried to search for this information on an internet search engine? We did and it was very frustrating! That’s when # local began.

 Why “# local”?  We had to think of something that would separate the Trades from the Retail & Community Groups but at the same time keep them together…  # goes before A, and local just worked to separate from the Trade & Service section, keeping all the categories servicing the local area together on one page. 

We want to support all local communities equally, so we decided to offer FREE advertising to Not-for-Profit community and sports groups, we want all not-for-profit groups whatever their size to be able to advertise.  We have also tried to keep the cost of business advertising as low as we can because we want all local businesses to have the opportunity to advertise locally too!
